Getting to London
Provider: Lufthansa
Cost: €118 for the round trip (excluding checked baggage)
Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
Our trip to London began with a flight from Frankfurt with Lufthansa. After about 1.5 hours, we landed at London Heathrow Airport. Even during the approach, we caught our first glimpse of the city with a bit of luck, even the Thames or the London Eye could be seen.
From the airport, there are several options to reach the city center:
London Underground (Tube):
The Piccadilly Line will take you to the city center in less than an hour. Trains run every 10 minutes, and with prices starting at £5.50, this is one of the most affordable options. You can conveniently pay with a contactless bank card, an Oyster Card, or by purchasing a single ticket.
Elizabeth Line:
This modern train line connects Heathrow with the city center in less than 45 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes, and a journey costs £12.80. Again, you can pay with a contactless bank card or an Oyster Card.
Heathrow Express:
The fastest, but also the most expensive option. The express train takes you from Heathrow to London Paddington in just 15 minutes, where you can then transfer to the Underground or the Elizabeth Line. Tickets start at £16.50 (if booked in advance).
