Our Trip to Singapore

In January 2024, I was finally able to check another destination off my bucket list and spent two days in Singapore. We used this short stay as a stopover on our journey from the Philippines to Thailand – a perfect opportunity to experience the highlights of this fascinating metropolis.

Although our time was limited, we managed to explore some of the city’s most famous landmarks. One of the most impressive moments was visiting Marina Bay, where we marveled at the breathtaking light show of the Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay. A stroll along the Singapore River with a view of the famous Merlion statue was also a must.

Singapore impressed us with its cleanliness, efficiency, and diversity. The blend of modern technology, cultural heritage, and green retreats makes this city a unique travel destination – and definitely worth a longer stay.

When entering Singapore, travelers must complete the electronic “SG Arrival Card” with a health declaration online within three days before arrival. This is mandatory and can be done through the official and free e-Service of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Important Notes:

  • Passport Validity: The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the travel date.
  • Visa: German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
    🔗 German Federal Foreign Office
  • Residence Permit: Upon arrival, an entry permit is issued for the duration of the stay.

Getting from the Airport to the City Center

After completing the immigration process, there are several transportation options:

  1. Taxi or Ride-Hailing Services: Available directly at the airport and very convenient.

We opted for a Grab to reach our accommodation quickly.

    • Cost: Around 20-30 EUR
    • Duration: Approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the destination
  2. Public Transport: Changi Airport is connected to the MRT system (Mass Rapid Transit), providing an affordable way to reach the city center.

Note: The SG Arrival Card does not replace a visa and is only for travel and health information registration. We recommend completing it in advance to avoid delays upon arrival.
