Rome

The eternal city packs over two and a half thousand years of history into a tight space, from the Colosseum to the Roman Forum to the Trevi Fountain.

Getting to Rome

To avoid the traffic chaos downtown, we opted for a parking garage a bit further out (Parking Cinecittà Cirulli), €16.20 for 3 days. Booking online was easy, and on site we found a secure spot at a fair price. From there to our accommodation: a short walk to the metro station, about a 15-minute ride into the center, then a short walk.

Where We Stayed in Rome

Domus Avi, Guest House

Central location, ideal for exploring the city. €150 a night, rather expensive for what you get. Very friendly hosts, lovely ambience, perfect base for exploring the city. Downside: broken air conditioning with no prior notice, replaced by a small fan that wasn't enough during the high temperatures, value for money rather disappointing.

Verdict: Wins you over with its central location and friendly hosts, though the lack of air conditioning and the high price dampened our stay. Anyone who values comfort should ask about the room's amenities in advance.
