For the best view of the Dragon Bridge after sunset, a café on the riverbank or a short boat tour on the Han River is worth it.

Getting to Da Nang

I flew from Ho Chi Minh City (about 1:20 hrs, from €35), much faster than the train (16–20 hrs, from €30), which shows more of the scenery though.

Where We Stayed in Da Nang

Chicland Danang Beach Hotel

Just a few steps from the beach, perfect for relaxed days by the sea. From €60 a night, good value for money. Friendly, attentive staff, stylish ambiance with a unique ocean view, a lovely hotel with a pleasant atmosphere. Downsides: breakfast could be more varied, small gym with limited space, rooftop pool with only a few loungers.

Verdict: Scores with a great location, good service and lovely design. Despite minor shortcomings, we can recommend it.

The Best Beaches in Da Nang

My Khe Beach

On the east coast, one of the region's most popular beaches. Fine white sand, turquoise water, ideal conditions for swimming, sunbathing and surfing. Relaxed atmosphere, numerous restaurants and cafés nearby, perfect for unwinding. Easily reached by taxi or scooter, just a few minutes from the city center.

My Khe Beach

Non Nuoc Beach

On the southeast coast, near the famous Marble Mountains, a quiet and picturesque beach. Soft white sand, clear blue water, gentle waves ideal for swimming and walking, the proximity to the Marble Mountains provides an impressive backdrop. Easily reached by taxi, scooter or bicycle, about 15 minutes from the city center.

The Best Food in Da Nang

Thìa Gỗ Restaurant

A wide selection of Vietnamese dishes in a cozy atmosphere, though neither the flavor nor the service quite convinced us. Daily 9am to 10pm.

Verdict: Didn't fully win us over, the quality was average, there are definitely better alternatives in Da Nang for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

The Best Activities in Da Nang

Dragon Bridge

In the center, spanning the Han River, easily reached by taxi, scooter or on foot. One of the city's best-known landmarks, with a unique design shaped like a golden dragon. It's especially spectacular at night, lit up with colorful LED lights. The weekend shows are a highlight, when the dragon breathes fire and water.

Tip: Visit the bridge in the evening to enjoy the light show, the best views are from nearby cafés or a boat tour on the Han River.

Dragon Bridge

Dragon Bridge Night Market

On the bank of the Han River, right beneath the Dragon Bridge. In the evening the market comes alive with a wide selection of local specialties, snacks and street food, plus stalls with souvenirs, clothing and handicrafts. Traditional music and dance performances add to the special atmosphere. Daily 5pm to midnight.

Tip: Visit after 8pm when the mood is best, combined with the Dragon Bridge fire show.

Ba Na Hills, Golden Hand Bridge

On a mountaintop near Da Nang, conveniently reached by taxi or Grab. Impresses with French colonial architecture, lush gardens and a breathtaking panoramic view. The cable car ride over the dense rainforest is an experience in itself. Numerous attractions on site, including theme parks, temples, restaurants and a hotel. A special highlight: the Golden Bridge, held up by two monumental stone hands. Even in thick fog, Ba Na Hills has a magical atmosphere. Admission from €36 per person, daily 7am to 9pm.

Tip: Visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds, bring a light jacket, since it can get noticeably cooler up the mountain.
